Tires are very important

Yes, quattro is a great drivetrain, but as with everything, if the tires have no grip, it doesn’t matter how many different types of tires you have driven on, no traction leads to unfortunate situations. Modern snow tires use special rubber compounds to remain flexible in the coldest of temperatures, and this is part of the reason they work so well. Even good all-season tires become stiff and slippery in sub-freezing temperatures, and stiff tires don’t grip well. Click here to learn more about our winter wheel packages at Pfaff Audi.

Quattro won’t help you stop

Again, snow tires are the most important thing you can have on your car when it gets nasty out. The best ABS and ESP systems can’t overcome physics. If your ABS spends all its time preventing lockup, it won’t spend any time braking, and you’ll roll right through the stop sign, or right into the car in front of you in traffic. Your Audi’s quattro system can help you get traction, but it should not be relied on to help you stop in a pinch.

Clear the snow off of your car

This seems like a no-brainer doesn’t it? If you can’t see out of the car, you’ll crash. If you have a huge pile of snow on your roof, and it blows off onto the car behind you, they will crash. Either way, it’s not cool to drive around with a ton of snow on your car. Take the time to clear the snow off of your Audi before you drive. You can even take advantage of window defrosters and side mirror defrosters on your Audi vehicle.
